Caison Del Valle
Illustrator
YouTube & the Toddler Years
Caison has had a love for creating since the age of 2 when he began showing amazing fine motor skills when drawing basic circles. In elementary school, he began teaching himself to write Chinese characters and watching YouTube videos to learn how to create detailed paper-folded objects. Shortly thereafter, he began watching artist videos and would sit for hours watching and practicing their techniques.
Skip & the Middle School Years
In middle school, while taking a community art class in Redlands, CA, Caison met Skip, who was teaching the class. He began having weekly drawing sessions with him in local cafes around town. Skip taught Caison how to live sketch his surroundings, add the proper perspective & depth to his work and draw expressive faces. This continued for over a year, until Caison and his family moved to Northern California.
NUMU, CalArts & the High School Years
From the age of 6 until 16, Caison had also been a competitive gymnast which took time away from practicing art. In high school, Caison took art every year, winning 1st place in NUMU’s juried exhibition for Drawing & Watercolor in his sophomore year. He retired from gymnastics to focus his last 2 years of high school on art. Through weekend portrait drawing, painting, & printmaking workshops, the very first Discover Animation summer residency Cal Arts offered to high school students, multiple online portfolio development classes through Cal Arts, and, of course, YouTube & Instagram, Caison continued to research and develop his style and discover which subjects he has a passion for.
Laguna College of Art & Design
Caison chose Laguna College of Art & Design as the best place to grow as an illustrator. He’s exploring different media and deepening his knowledge of art history.
